We post entry-level production, skilled labor, administrative, professional, engineering and non-executive management roles for our US and Canadian locations on our website www.ryam.com. Hourly manufacturing roles based in the USA are also posted on Employ Georgia for our Georgia location and Employ Florida for our Fernandina Beach location. All external candidates are required to create a candidate profile to apply.
Once an application is received, the recruitment professional handling the role will compare your skills and experience with the requirements of the position. You will be contacted if selected for further consideration for the applied role or another role you may be qualified for.
We recruit process engineers, project engineers, mechanical engineers and electrical engineers from universities located throughout the United States and Canada. We also recruit students with business degrees based on company needs. We are always looking to expand our reach to other universities as well. We typically look for chemical engineering, pulp and paper engineering, or mechanical engineering degrees for these positions. We usually visit twice a year for these entry-level roles, and once per year for summer intern roles.
Regardless of your role, you will get the opportunity for a hands-on experience, working side by side with professionals in their fields. The ability to apply the knowledge you’ve learned in the classroom to our business is a key goal, as we design an assignment that will satisfy a business need. Most importantly, the experience you gain working with us will provide a new perspective when you return to the classroom, further enhancing your academic experience.
RYAM is committed to building our future leaders from within and that’s what the Early Career Development program, or ECD, is all about. ECD is your customized learning and development plan designed to prepare you for a leadership or individual contributor role in 3-5 years. Early Career Development serves as your guide as you build the foundation of skills and knowledge essential for success in a variety of career paths in engineering, technical services, mill operations, plant reliability, product development or sales. “Graduation” from ECD means a promotion to a leadership role in the organization where you will take on broader management responsibilities with a significant and direct impact on business performance.
All of our employees go through a new hire orientation, learning about their locations and our processes and beginning to gain technical depth. Through the on-boarding process, our new hires tour our facilities and attend “RYAM Immersion,” facilitated by our senior leadership team. On location, you are teamed with a partner to guide you as you learn how things are done and continue your growth as an employee. Through a variety of assignments, you apply your education to perform improvement projects geared toward quality, cost, environmental performance and overall process optimization.
After one year of service, employees may apply for 75 percent reimbursement of tuition, books and fees toward the successful completion of job-related degree programs (including online programs). Reimbursement is limited to the current IRS or CRA limit annually for an undergraduate degree, and up to $10,000 annually for graduate programs.
